Amazon Associates API access is important because it allows website integration with Amazon databases. This means that you can show information about products that sell on Amazon on your site.

Content Egg Amazon Module

You can use the Amazon in Content Egg without or with Amazon API. If you have Amazon API, the Amazon module is the preferred method. Active API access is mandated for this particular module. You’ll have to enter the Amazon Secret Key and Access Key in the module settings section.

Under settings, you can set the default locale, default associate tag, auto-embedding way, template, price update interval, product update interval (based on keyword), update mode, enter associates tags for each locale, and many more setting options.

Products are added via the Content Egg interface, located at the bottom of the post/page editor. There you will have fields to search and add products from Amazon. You can search by ASIN or URL.

Content Egg Amazon No API Module

Product Advertising API key is mandatory for the majority of Amazon affiliate WordPress plugins. That key can be created from the Amazon Associates account owned by the specific user.

API access is only given to those who have an active Amazon Associates account. You can apply for an Amazon Associates account at any time. It doesn’t matter if your site is new or old. The bad news is that you must generate at least 3 affiliate sales in 180 days (6 months) to get API access.

There are not many Amazon affiliate plugins without API option. You will find several plugins that help users display Amazon products and increase affiliate clicks. But in most cases, they require API to operate.

Without the API, you rely on affiliate links you manually grab from the Amazon product sales pages. You also lose the benefits that the API offers. Thankfully, Content Egg offers both No API module for those who don’t have API access and API module.

You then enter, for example, keyword either under “Find All” option to search products for all modules, or if you want to search for only one module, you enter keyword in search field for that module.

Plugin will then fetch products based on your keyword. Just click on the products which you want to add. You can then edit product title and description, set keyword for update, choose shortcode template, etc.

You can place shortcode anywhere in your site content and depending on template, the output will look something like in screenshot below.

What Are The Differences Between Amazon Modules?

So what are the differences exactly between the Content Egg Amazon module and Amazon No API module? Adding products is the same. The only difference is in the number of setting options available.

What Are Alternatives To Amazon API?

Most affiliate sites use Amazon Associates to earn commissions. Amazon is very popular, and redirecting visitors to Amazon converts well. The Product Advertising API provides programmatic access to Amazon’s product selection and discovery functionality so that users can add Amazon products directly into the site.

Using API, you can access millions of products, including product search and look-up capability, and add product information and features.

But how can users that don’t have API access achieve this? There are four options that Content Egg has made available, and none of them mandate API keys. They can be used to help you eventually receive API access by increasing sales and revenue.
