You will then see a notification to activate your license key after you install the plugin. Clicking on this notification will take you to the Global Settings page.
You can enter your license key information in the License Key field. Click on “Save License” when finished. The license key information is available in your Formidable Forms account. Now you’re ready to create a calculator forms.
Go to Formidable > Forms page from your dashboard to create a new form. You can use one of the ready-made templates or create your own form from scratch.
You can add product options by checkbox fields, radio buttons, or dropdown menus. The easiest way to do this is by opening your form builder and dragging and dropping these field types into your form until you have all the options that you need.
Click on the field to bring up the “Field Options” on the left. Here you can assign values for each pricing option. Boxes labeled “Option 1” and “Option 2” will appear as defaults. Feel free to rename them and add any other options you may need.
Check the “Use Separate Values” box that appears underneath this. This will give you access to new options besides each of the pricing options and is where you can add the price for each respective option. The form will use these options to calculate totals. Just make sure that the pricing option for each option is unique.
Next, you’ll need to add a Number field to calculate and display the total price for each order. You can assign whatever name to this field that you want. Something like “Total Price” may work best. Bring up the Field Options and check the “Read Only” box to ensure no one else can edit this option.
Go into the Advanced Options menu, where you’ll see the “Default Value” section. Click on the calculator icon first and then the menu icon (which appears as three dots).
This will bring up settings for the Calculate Value Default option. Choose the number of decimals that you want to use. Most people will only use two because they want to show prices in dollars and cents.
Here’s where everything comes together in the calculator form. Go to the Field List section to choose the fields that you want to calculate. Clicking on the ID or name of each field selected will add it to the calculation. You can alter the look of the calculation field by using CSS classes. The numerals will appear in bold without a border, which makes it an excellent choice for displaying order prices.
Once you have your total price calculation, you can start accepting payments. Both Authorize.net and Stripe will allow you to add a credit card payment field to your form so that you can take payments right on your website. PayPal is another option you can use.
The final step is to publish your form. You can publish forms on either an individual shopping cart or on specific product pages.
To put your form on a page, click on the “Add Block” icon (if you’re using the block editor) on the top left-hand corner of your page builder. Next, select Formidable Forms and select your calculator form from the dropdown menu to place your form. That’s it! You now have a fully operational price calculator for WordPress that your customers can use.
Look at the documentation for more examples of how you can use field calculators. Formidable field calculators can be used for more than just price calculations. You can use them to build a mortgage calculator, for example. Check out the calculator form templates available.
Why Is Important To Use Price Calculators?
Sometimes you want to allow your customers to choose things like color, quantities, size, etc. But then you will need to manually calculate the price based on various criteria and customer wishes.
What if there was an easier way? Using form calculator option, you can set that total price automatically adjusts based on what customer chooses, adds to cart, etc.
The last thing you want is for customers to go elsewhere where the buying process is more convenient. Save yourself and your customers some time and hassle. If Formidable Forms is not a kind of form builder plugin then Quill Forms, WPForms and Gravity Forms are great alternatives. See differences between Gravity Forms vs WPForms.
