How To Create Different Custom WooCommerce Sidebars Across Site?

All e-commerce sites have multiple pages. There’s usually a home page, a shop page, a blog page, a single product page, etc. Using the same type of widgets across all of your website pages is not smart to do and can affect conversion rates and overall user experience. This is why you need custom WooCommerce sidebars.

Let’s use an example to demonstrate. Whenever a site visitor comes across your blog page, you may want them to see other related articles published, find relevant content, or subscribe. You can add Search widgets, Related Posts widgets, and an opt-in form to the sidebar in this instance.

Whenever a visitor reaches the shop page, the overall goal is to have them buy from you. They should be able to search for products that they’re interested in, see available items, add the items to the shopping cart and successfully check out. Related posts, and an opt-in form, though still useful, may not be the best choice in this situation.

Adding widgets and custom sidebars to specific pages of the site is key. You can meet the individual site visitor needs and engage them so that they will return to the site regularly.

Sometimes you want to remove WordPress sidebar. But sometimes you also want to create custom sidebars can be used for many different types of content.

Take some time to think about your site’s content that could be helped by having a sidebar. Sidebars let you showcase images, blurbs, lists, filter options, and other information. It’s a good place to organize navigation.

Even though you may already have primary navigation on the website, sidebar content can assist in important navigation to different site areas.

You can promote whatever content you feel is important. For instance, online shop owners can highlight individual product categories. Filters can be added according to product color, price, or size. This can help customers find the items that they’re interested in quicker and easier.

How To Create Custom WooCommerce Sidebars?

For this particular tutorial, I will use the WooSidebars plugin. This plugin lets you adjust the widgets in the widgetized section of your sidebar. They can be changed according to the search results screen, specific categories, or particular blog posts or pages of the site or another context. It only takes a few clicks of the mouse to set a customized widget section displayed across several different conditions.

How to use custom sidebar in WordPress.

You can use WooSidebars to override any currently widgetized section of the WordPress site. Different screens can have different widgets displayed. All of this can be accomplished without having to edit or add any code.

WooSidebars will automatically add a new “Widget Areas” menu item to the Appearance menu of the WordPress website’s administration section. All WooSidebar activities occur in this menu area.

You will see a list of all the widget areas you’ve already stored in the Widget Areas screen. You can add a widget area by selecting the “Add New” link. This link is right next to the “Widget Areas” title.

Any time that you add a new widget area, there are several accompanying fields. There are title, description, the sidebar to be replaced, and the conditions for replacing the particular sidebar.

With WooSidebars, it’s possible to change the widgets that display in a sidebar.

The title is the name of the widget area. The title will be shown on the “Appearance > Widgets” screen. Each title should be short so that it’s easy to identify and remember.

The title should also relate to the particular page. For instance, you can use the title “About Page – Primary” to replace the “Primary” sidebar on the “About” page of the site.

The description is an optional field that provides more information about when and where the specific sidebar is used. You’ll find this text inside the sidebar. It will appear in the “Appearance > Widgets” screen.

WooSidebars lets you override a current widget from the active theme. It uses a custom widget section to perform this function when specified conditions are met. Sidebar to Replace field is used to select the current sidebar that you want to replace by the new sidebar you’re creating.

Setting up a custom widget area to display across multiple conditions is as easy.
You can replace any current theme sidebar with your new created sidebar.

WooSidebars has an advanced conditions management system. You can decide which conditions will allow the existing sidebar to be replaced by the new sidebar. For instance, you may want to replace the current sidebar on specific tags, categories, or pages.

WooSidebar is sidebar generator WordPress plugin.
You can select parts of sites on which newly created sidebar will be used.

“Pages” are the only available default condition. Going into the “Conditions” box and selecting the “Advanced” tab provides access to more advanced condition settings.

Conditions

WooSidebars has several default page conditions. Opening the “Conditions” box and going into the “Advanced” tab will bring up tabs for even more conditions.

Other conditions include:

  • Specific page templates: This option can be used if the active theme already has page templates.
  • Post types: This is used for post type archives. It is also used to display each post that belongs to a specific post type.
  • Taxonomy archives: This is for tags, categories, etc. for all of the registered taxonomies.
  • Taxonomy terms: This is for particular tags, categories, etc. for all registered taxonomies.
  • WordPress Template Hierarchy: This is used for all pages, search results, any “your latest posts” default screens, front page, single entries, all archives, author archives, date archives, and 404 “page not found” error screens.
  • WooCommerce: This is used for shop pages, product categories, product tags, products, cart, checkout pages, and account pages.

You can go to the “Posts > All Posts” section and click on the check box that appears next to the blog post that you want to create a widget area for. WooSidebars will know which sidebars are active in your current theme. It will let you know if a custom sidebar you created doesn’t apply to the active theme.

Any custom sidebars that you create will stay in the system. You can alternate between the currently registered sidebars and your customer sidebars at any time.

You don’t need to use the same sidebar structure for all of your site content and pages if you don’t want to. Making your own custom sidebars can add a variety to web pages. It can also help you add unique content based on the page that your site visitors are currently viewing. It can also simplify the site’s page navigation, which is a definite advantage.
