WhiteSmoke vs Grammarly Comparison & Proofreading Test (2024)

Writers will eventually make grammatical and spelling mistakes from time to time, even those writing in their own native language. Errors are often eye-catching, and they can take attention away from the message you’re trying to express.

Mistakes appear in published works, blog posts, various articles, university works, etc. Even experts in speaking, writing, and reading in their own native tongue aren’t perfect. Thankfully, there are many grammar and spell-check tools that can detect the errors that human eyes miss.

Typical spelling mistakes include spelling errors, typographical errors, phonetic errors, and misused words. Common grammatical errors use the wrong plural or singular form of a particular word and the incorrect word tense.

You have several options. You can devote a considerable amount of time to learn as much as possible about spelling, grammar, and writing. You can employ a proofreader to review your writing or use the grammar and spell-check tool.

Certain tools can help you create unique blog posts without any embarrassing grammatical or spelling mistakes. Grammarly and WhiteSmoke are some of those tools. In this WhiteSmoke vs Grammarly comparison, I’ll evaluate both tools to find out which of them is superior.

WhiteSmoke vs Grammarly

WhiteSmoke is a very reasonably priced grammar and spell-checking tool. It has all of the important functions. WhiteSmoke is just as precise as Grammarly in finding grammar and spelling mistakes, from what I could determine from testing.

I currently have Grammarly, WhiteSmoke, and Ginger. I strongly suggest using Grammarly whenever possible. Grammarly Pro is a tool that I use daily. Grammarly finds slightly more mistakes than WhiteSmoke and Ginger. I have also compared Grammarly vs ProWritingAid, and Ginger vs Grammarly so be sure to check that too.

Testing Grammarly vs WhiteSmoke – Which Performs Better?

I have taken the same text and tested it in Grammarly and WhiteSmoke to find the most mistakes.

WHITESMOKE TEXT ANALYSIS

whitesmoke grammar and spell check test

WhiteSmoke found three spelling, five grammar, and one style error. But it is showing:

  • WordPress word as wrong despite it is correct (WhiteSmoke is recommending that it is written Word Press, but you can add it to the dictionary so in future it will not show it as incorrect),
  • It shows that iOS is wrong, despite it is correct, and recommends to correct to: is, ions, BIOS, etc.
  • WhiteSmoke shows that I need to put a comma after the word “app” (but the comma is already there)

From this example, you can see that Grammarly performed better than WhiteSmoke. This is just one example, but in general, Grammarly is slightly better.

WhiteSmoke vs Grammarly Summary

Grammar and spelling mistakes are more common than most people may think, even for people who are adept at writing and reading in their own native language. Grammar and spell-checking tools can help to reduce or eliminate those errors.

Misused words, major spelling errors, phonetic errors, and typographical errors are some of the most frequent kinds of spelling mistakes. Grammatical mistakes can be improperly used word tenses, incorrect singular or plural usage of words, and just about everything else in between.

Grammarly is a very dependable, precise resource. It finds many grammatical mistakes and has a very high accuracy score. Just keep in mind that Grammarly isn’t perfect. It can be a valuable tool, but unfortunately, it doesn’t find every single grammar, spelling, or syntax error on the first try.

I hope this Grammarly vs WhiteSmoke comparison was of help to you. The tool you select should have good grammar checking functions that can help you become a better writer. It would be best if you also thought about whether you need web or desktop-based software. Don’t forget about any other essential features that can help.
